FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

BOOKINGS AND TRIPS

How much is a ticket?

The Laramon Tours ticket price varies according to what cruise you choose, whether you book as an adult or child, and what is included in our cruise. Please contact us for specific details, mentioning which cruise you are interested in.

How long before departure should I arrive?

Guests are encouraged to arrive 30minutes prior to departure. This ensures enough time to check-in and enjoy a complimentary hot beverage before climbing aboard. We often have seals and pelicans start the entertainment before departure, so make sure not to miss it.

What should I wear?

It is unlikely that you will get wet on the cruise; however you might experience some spray from the ocean. Dress comfortably. Wear comfortable shoes, such as sandals or sneakers, or wedged heels if you want to dress up. Bring a warm jacket in case it gets cooler during the cruise. A hat is recommended, as the Namibian sun is unpredictable and can get very hot. Sun lotion should be worn. Sunglasses are nice to have, but make sure you do not lose them overboard. All our catamarans have a top deck which are accessible via stairs, ladies who want to wear dresses should take note of this.

What if I have food allergies?

If you have any dietary requirements please inform us well in advance so that we can prepare accordingly. We do our utmost best to accommodate every person on board, including those with any specific dietary needs.

Are the cruises child friendly?

Yes, babies and infants are more than welcome with parental supervision. Suitable life  jackets are provided and parents are advised to keep an eye on their children at all times. Kids thoroughly enjoy our tours!

What if I get seasick while on a cruise?

Although our catamaran experiences are generally smooth, you are encouraged to drink the appropriate medication if you are prone to getting ill while at sea. We have some natural remedies on board, but cannot provide medication to guests.

TRANSPORTATION

Do you provide a pick-up service?

Yes we provide a complimentary pick up service in Walvis Bay and Swakopmund. Pick-ups must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance. Pick up time is between 30 and 45 minutes prior to departure, depending on your pick- up location.

Directions to your pier?
  • Take the B2 towards Walvis Bay for approximately 33km
  • Once entering Walvis Bay, at the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto D1986/Union Road
  • Continue straight until you reach 5th Road
  • Turn right onto 5th Road. Continue straight until nearly the end (just before the harbour)
  • Turn left onto Atlantic Street, and follow the road which makes a sharp right towards the Walvis Bay Yacht Club
  • Pass Walvis Bay Yacht Club and continue straight to reach the Waterfront and Laramon Tours.
  • Our private jetty is located towards the right of the parking area.
Where do I park?

There is a large parking area at the Walvis Bay Waterfront where all vehicles are parked. We are located at the parking area, if you walk to Anchors Restaurant.

CANCELLATIONS

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations should be done at least 24 hours in advance to result in a full refund.
Cancellations within 24 hours of your tour will result in a 50% refund. You are welcome to reschedule your cruise.

What if I am late for departure?

Note that the captain departs on time and late arrivals will unfortunately miss their cruise.
There shall be no refunds for late arrivals.

What if the weather is bad?

Laramon Tours is good, but we’re not that good, we unfortunately cannot control the weather.
Therefore only the captain is entitled to decide to cancel the cruise if no alternate itinerary is available and if the sea conditions are too dangerous to guarantee a safe cruise. A full refund is provided to guests should we cancel a cruise due to weather conditions.

ANIMALS & ENVIRONMENT

Is it safe to touch the animals?

There are a handful of seals and pelicans we have gotten to know throughout the years that climb on the catamarans during a cruise. Note that most of them have been rescued in some way. Our guide/deck hand will brief guests whether or not these animals may be touched. We remind guests in our briefing that the animals remain wild and unpredictable always listen to the guide and ask before touching any animals.

Are you eco-friendly?

We have implemented a number of small policy changes to ensure we endorse responsible tourism and become as eco-friendly as possible. We are not 100% eco-friendly, and not sure if we will ever get there, but we believe small changes make a huge impact. We make sure to use biodegradable products to clean our vessels. We make a point to fish out any plastic waste we see on tour with our special ‘pool cleaners’ acting as excellent ‘fishing tools’. Our staff help out in picking up waste which washes ashore at the Walvis Bay Waterfront. We’ve replaced any wasteful products at our coffee station with reusable items. We will continue to take steps to become as eco-friendly as we possibly can.
